Important results from the project
All technical objectives have been achieved (see Results below). The goal of engaging new SMEs has been exceeded. In addition to AIM, a partner in FAMKO, a large number of SMEs has participated as subcontractors. Together, the cost of these has exceeded the target of SEK 900 k which was the target in the proposal. The main participating subcontractors were: Oxeon AB, Biteam AB, Midroc Automation AB, LKN Industriautomation AB, Wargia AB, Finepart Sweden AB, Devex Mekatronik AB, Elitkomposit AB, ARCAM AB and Carl Zeiss AB.
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in component validation to TRL6 and demo of new manufacturing technology to TRL5 for a composite fan outlet guide vane with titanium fasteners made by 3D printing. The results are expected to lead to business with an international OEM in 2020. A composite automation cell as well as a 3D printing cell are now in place at Innovatum / PTC in an open arena.
Approach and implementation
The technical work in the project has been managed by GKN´s so-called module team. The program manager for the OEM in question was responsible for regular contact with the international OEM regarding interface data, requirements and results. The project has been synchronized with a regional project within which the arena itself is being built up.
