Purpose and goal
Deep Forestry AB has developed drone hardware and software system for the classification of commercial forests. In this project they will apply the new system in real world conditions. The drone has the potential to provide data months before harvesting occurs; thus, helping digitize the entire forestry value chain. The project will further develop the software and elucidate how the system can best be leveraged to add value throughout the entire commercial forestry value chain. Deep Forestry AB, Rise Processum AB, and Linköping University are working together to achieve these goals.
Expected results and effects
The results will be focused on testing the drone system and providing a road-map for digitizing commercial forestry and adding value throughout the entire value chain via a large FUI follow-up project. Overall results include: 1) An evaluation of the drone in real world conditions. 2) An evaluation of the software when used with real world data. 3) An investigation into how best to leverage the software to add value throughout the value chain. 4) An overall evaluation for the likelihood of success for a large FUI follow-up project. 5) A list of new stakeholders in the follow-up project.
