Important results from the project
The feasibility study gathered expertise and created synergies between the four EU-DIGITAL-projects, GMS and SciLifeLab in order to obtain effective participation from the Sweden. The following common issues have been compiled: legal issues, semantic interoperability, technical infrastructure & data security, design of solutions for data sharing and guidance for further collaboration. The feasibility study created networks between these projects and other relevant actors to discuss possible sustainable solutions for health data management nationally and at EU-level.
Expected long term effects
The feasibility study maximized synergies between these ongoing DIGITAL-projects and contributed to the development of long-term sustainable structures for health data by gathering expertise and conducting recurring meetings on common issues with several stakeholders. A compilation of the common areas of expertise has been published. Some concrete collaborations between and within the various projects have been added, including increased collaboration with GMS. The projects have discussed continued common needs, including cooperation in the next few years.
Approach and implementation
The feasibility study was carried out according to the plan during jan 2023 - aug 2023. It was coordinated by SciLifeLab and included working groups of experts and the PI/ coordinator for the respective DIGITAL-project. The existing potential within the DIGITAL-projects but also from other actors at national- and EU-level has been mapped. A permanent network has been built up and the compilation of common areas of expertise has been carried out. The study worked primarily with the legal issues, while social and ethical aspects are dealt with within TEF-Health with delivery in dec 2023.
