Important results from the project
The project´s aims to disseminate lessons learned from the previous project has not been met in full, but the experiences gained has reinforced the potential for future utilization. The aim to refine the process has been partially met through experiences that are essential for continued development. The aim to realize design-driven innovation has clearly been met in three of the four cases. The goal of implementing design-driven innovation has been partially met in three of the cases. The goal of creating an exhibition concept for dissemination of experiences has been met.
Expected long term effects
We have made important experiences which means that we can take the next step in the evolution of the process of design-driven innovation. In this development, we will take note of DPIs emphasis on clearer innovation cases and DMIPs emphasis on active coaching, need for places for design-driven innovation and the lesson that implementation takes time. We have also developed an exhibition concept that is well-informed and useful, both as a method for implementation, as a platform for dissemination of experiences and as an experiential commentary on methods, results and experiences.
Approach and implementation
The collaboration between companies and design firms worked well. However, the developed process, with its stronger emphasis on innovation cases, but with a less active stressing of working inside the companies mean that the degree of implementation rate was not as high as we had hoped. We believe that a more active coaching work and an emphasis on companies´ more active involvement in the work, as well as a more extended process in time to promote learning, would have led to more thorough implementation.
