Purpose and goal

The project has met its goal to create and disseminate knowledge about the adoption and use of medical records online and other e-health services. The project has met its objectives by following and studying the ongoing social transformation of the health care field with perspectives on eHealth. The project has also consciously influenced the implementation process of e-Health services and revealed the different stakeholders´ needs, desires and experiences.

Results and expected effects

When it comes to involvement in the national introduction, the project has succeeded in establishing a unique position of being represented in multiple instances and at different levels: in the IT development project that is based in Uppsala, in the regional implementation group for Skåne and in the national implementation group. This will be of great importance to achieve all the specific aims of the project. This also represents a further strong potential for the project to achieve good future results.

Approach and implementation

Multiple methods increase the quality of the project. We have so far completed questionnaires, and interview studies in parallel with participatory observations during meetings and discussions. Action research with a flexible schedule is a success factor for the DOME project. This strategy for time management has helped the project edirect research efforts when needed. For example, with regard to the resistance to the introduction of Uppsala County and the criticisms towards cancer patients reading their test results online.
