Purpose and goal
The purpose and goal of the project was to provide Skanska with knowledge of new technical solutions and services that can be implemented in the construction business and contribute to Skanska´s internal goal of deep green construction. The competition received about 60 applications and the ten finalists have great potential to take Skanska´s projects towards the deep green vision. The competition created internal engagement in many parts of Skanska and gave opportunities for cross-functional evaluation of new technologies, which is considered an important internal effect.
Results and expected effects
Through the competition, Skanska has involved several internal units to evaluate the approximately 60 received solutions. This new cross-functional forum has given our experts time and a method to evaluate technologies and needs from an environmental perspective. The commitment has been great and the competition has acted as platform for spreading information about Skanska deep green environmental ambition and the finalists´ solutions, both internally and externally.
Approach and implementation
The disposition of Deep Green Challenge has proven to be successful and a structured approach to guide us. The biggest challenge however has been the lack of time. More time would have been needed to spread inforamtion about the competitionin order to get more interesting solutions to enter. More time was also needed for evaluation and to transfer knowledge between evaluation groups and all the way to the jury. The solutions are now matched with a building project and the remaining work is to evaluate the solutions and to communicate the outcome internally.
