Important results from the project

CiiR was from start established with the ambition to develop into a national center for innovation system research characterized by key words such as multidisciplinary research, distributed innovation systems where digital innovation and ICT are important. We have implemented this ambition by integrating eight different research subjects and applied engineering centers in joint projects. Our ambition to develop new knowledge in close interaction with policy and practice is manifested by all the popular reports, seminars and workshops we have organized or participated in.

Expected long term effects

During our first three years CiiR has successfully developed new approaches for securing that new state-of-the-art knowledge are developed and new forms for interaction between research and practice have been tested. Since its start in Jan 2011, CiiR-researchers have contributed with 70 scientific articles and in total 93 popular reports, workshops and seminars for descision-makers on different levels.

Approach and implementation

CiiR is established by two universities located to the north half of Sweden with the ambition to develop into a nationally and internationally recognized excellence center for multi-disciplinary research specifically addressing challenges for distributed innovation. The center engages 21 senior researchers and five PhD candidates at eight research units/centers and two universities. These 26 individuals represent 18 male and 8 female researchers with their roots in eight countries and four continents, conducting research in five different work packages.
