AstaZero suitability - Digital AstaZero
|Funding from Vinnova||SEK 2 029 000|
|Project duration||October 2018 - March 2020|
Purpose and goal
The aim of the project is increase the competence at AstaZero and initialise the work securing a digital representation of the facility along with open data. The transport system is digitized at a high pace, both regarding high-resolution maps and large amounts of data. For AstaZero, this means that the test environments must be represented in a digital format, for virtual/simulated testing and for autonomous vehicles to navigate on AstaZero. Furthermore, demand from primarily the research world is increasing on access to data, mainly sensor data from different traffic situations.
Expected results and effects
This project aims to deliver digital maps of AstaZero in the format OpenDRIVE, a format that is highly likely to become an industry standard for digital road network descriptions. All environments at AstaZero should be available in OpenDRIVE when the project is completed. In the case of temporary traffic environments, the project will also investigate methods for automated generation of OpenDRIVE maps. Projects will investigate which specific data that is relevant for research, and then identify data that AstaZero has the ability to store and make available.
Planned approach and implementation
Study to find current and future methods for automated vehicle development and verification requiring a digital representation of the current traffic environment. Ensure that all existing environments on AstaZero are measured in point clouds. Create and access OpenDRIVE files for all environments at AstaZero. Method and equipment for generating OpenDRIVE files for temporary environments on AstaZero. Inventory of data that AstaZero can publish that provides added value for research and product development. Develop strategy to provide this kind of data.
