Important results from the project
The project has in a most satisfying manner reached its aims and goals. Operators have developed technical solutions and platforms that bring significantly increased reliability and user experience in residential networks. Municipalities in northern Sweden have produces exhibitions where new technologies aimed at solving the demographic challenge, which require such network qualities, are demonstrated to the general public.
Expected long term effects
The developed solutions have had a direct impact through increased stability and ease of use of connected services in homes, which significantly lowers the cost for the operator in customer support and fault location. The progress made brings significantly increased support for the roll out of new services such as in-home support for an aging population, services that require higher level of resilience and availability. The solutions have to some extent already been standardized and also turned into products.
Approach and implementation
The project work was structured so that the overarching goals were divided into smaller, focused work packages for the technical development. An overarching project leader coordinated the work together with work package leaders. Project meetings were held regularly to enable free discussions between all project members and to discuss problems, report on advancements and share results. This organization structure worked very well. It was scalable while at the same time not impacting the collaboration in the project negatively.
