Purpose and goal
The project will work on, develop, and apply a testbed for Fault Detection and Identification (FDI) with the objective of working with methods for detecting anomalies in building controls and operations that can be due to both a malfunction and a malicious cyber influence on the property. The project´s goal is that the results will be made available in the form of a testbed based on the data sets created by subsystems and the security functionality (including detecting both cyber threats and malfunctions) that is developed in the project.
Expected effects and result
Expected effects are to promote flexibility in future building controls to avoid verticals (lock-in effects from individual suppliers) where the correct level of cyber security can be obtained/maintained. Results through the test bed are created through data-driven development based on the data each subsystem communicates, where the system´s behavior is used to generate profiles of its behavior through AI/ML methods, which can then be used to detect anomalies/deviations.
Planned approach and implementation
The project has an agile approach with 5 work packages: -WP1, Project management including activity planning, risk management, financial reporting, and steering group work; -WP2, Subsystem analysis and overall cybersecurity strategy that identifies subsystems as well as their communication and data content; -WP3, Architecture for the cybersecurity function that defines the test bed´s system components; -WP4, Implementation and verification of the test bed; -WP5, Evaluation and dissemination of project results through articles, seminars, workshops, etc.
