Important results from the project
Fossil-free plywood has been scaled up from lab-scale to pilot-scale manufacturing and fossil-free building elements have been scaled up from lab-scale to industrial-scale manufacturing. A bio-based adhesive has been used and evaluated for the purpose with good results.
Expected long term effects
The project has demonstrated the possibilities of producing 100% fossil-free plywood and building elements. A bio-based glue has been used for the purpose. The possibility of reusing fossil-free building elements has also been evaluated with promising results.
Approach and implementation
A good plan, good communication and motivated partners are key parameters for a successful project. Everyone in the project has worked towards a common objective - a vision of the 100% fossil-free building element - and despite several Corona shutdowns that made it difficult to do joint scale-up experiments, the project group managed with good enthusiasm and some delays to deliver everything proposed in the project plan within budget.
