Important results from the project

The project has achieved the goal of developing functionality enabling better operational management of inpatient wards. However, during the specification phase, the project shifted focus towards goal-setting and managing different levels of care, which was seen as a necessary step towards effective operational management of inpatient wards. This aligns with the overarching goal of creating objectives and missions based on patient needs, appropriate productivity, balanced budget, sustainable work environment, and improved patient outcomes for healthcare organizations.

Expected long term effects

The project delivers new functionality supporting control and planning of inpatient wards through clear categorization of care levels and visualization of productivity goals for each category. Additionally, it includes visualization of the resulting staffing needs and corresponding costs when meeting these set goals. The new functionality has been implemented with existing clients, and enables data-driven decisions on resource and patient allocation within inpatient care.

Approach and implementation

The project began with requirements gathering and design in 2023, in dialogue with our current customers. The customer requirements were interpreted and translated into a design in Figma, and further feedback was received from the customers. During 2024, development, testing, and commissioning began, where the design and prototype were broken down into development packages. These were then prioritized, developed, and tested in an iterative process. The work was led and carried out by our project manager together with our development partner Ascentic AB.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
