Chemistry from bio-based raw material

With this call for proposals, BioInnovation wishes to promote projects which develop processes for the production of bio-based platform chemicals and/or specialty chemicals and their further refinement in a value chain. The projects should be based on an idea that has already been validated in a laboratory or small pilot scale.

  • What is the offer about?

Many chemical industries today use fossil raw materials, and the chemical industry's production volumes are predicted to increase. At the same time, the share of bio-based raw materials constitutes only a very small part of the total production today.

The chemical industry is a major supplier of inputs to other product value chains, for example the engineering industry, the construction industry, the pulp and paper industry, the packaging industry, and the textile industry. Changing the chemical industry from fossil to bio-based raw materials is therefore a key to the bio-based transition.
