Important results from the project

The project has increased the focus on food and meals for the elderly. The vision is anchored in the parliament and government. Municipalities have adapted their organisations to better meet the needs of seniors. We have influenced policies, created business opportunities and initiated a government assignment to the Swedish National Food Agency. Through the Zero Malnutrition network, over 400 actors have met and inspired each other.

Expected long term effects

The project has contributed that prevention through food and meals has been included in national policy instruments like the new Social Services Act, the regulations from the National Board of Health, and the government assignment on food and meals for the elderly that the Swedish National Food Agency is working on. This means that the effects of Nollvisionen will be noticed in all of Sweden’s municipalities for a long time, through improved processes for preventive work against malnutrition.

Approach and implementation

The project has used an agile and flexible approach that evolved over time and took us further than expected. Early defined focus areas and working principles provided clear direction. A dedicated management team and collaboration with sister environments offered inspiration and a sense of security. Two pilot municipalities with different organizations tested and developed practical solutions. Communication and collaboration with the ecosystem have been central throughout the project.
