Important results from the project

Our goal was to develop and manufacture 100 pieces of Wunderhaler and perform a pilot study in order to prepare for clinical studies for validations and certifications. Pandemic slowed down possibilities to test with respiratory patients. Thus, we tested the prototypes with healthy naïve users and gained necessary knowledge for intuitive use. Paradoxically, the pandemic prompted us to develop the device accompanied with more advanced digital service, so we could perform remote patient tests. Thus, Wunderhaler is now more ready for precise home use than this project intended.

Expected long term effects

We developed a fully functional device, allowing remote testing under pandemic. We tested each iteration with patients and gained unique knowledge about user interaction, directing towards an intuitive product. We received a high level of engagement from patients, confirming that we are addressing an important unsolved need. We designed and evaluated our business model and go-to market strategy. We created a regulatory strategy for obtaining CE-mark, including data privacy and security. Thanks to the achievements throughout this project we gained a pre-seed investment.

Approach and implementation

In this project we developed four areas - product, user, business and regulatory. While COVID-19 pandemic made patient tests and pilot studies impossible, we pivoted to tests with healthy persons. The challenge made us appreciate possibilities of digital solutions and develop a digital service earlier, allowing substantial scaling up. Pandemic forced the entire society to make fast turn towards remote solutions and our market analysis registered unprecedented fast digitalization in healthcare showing bigger and earlier opportunities for our intuitive self-care device.
