Waverider - a 10MW wave energy concept

Purpose and goal
Through this grant, Novige has built a prototype of the floating body for our Novi Ocean wave concept, on a scale of 1/20. Dimensions are 4.5 x 0.55 meters, weighing 25 kg but lifting a full 300 kg in waves. The material in the prototype is carbon fiber. At the same time, we have conducted studies in financial strategy, marketing and IP strategy, as well as implemented changes in patents. Patents now approved in Europe and submitted to twelve other countries.
Expected results and effects
The floating body will later be connected to the same scale PTO (Power Take Off), which is being built and tested at KTH in the spring of 2019. Wave tank tests planned for September in Plymouth. These tests will further verify the extensive data simulations that are already completed, and wil be the basis for the design and construction of the corresponding 1/4 scale, which will begin this year.
Planned approach and implementation
Construction of fuselage performed by Magnus Rahm Consulting, in dialogue with JS. Supplemental calculations and design made by SSPA. Studies and reports in financing, IP strategy and market made by JS in collaboration with Cordial, Prospero and Create. All has been executed according to plan, with the exception of the floating body which is slightly delayed to February 01.
