Purpose and goal

Tangar Technologies AB develops indoor navigation products using Area Learning and Augmented Reality. The aim of the project was to provide the company with a deeper understanding of products in the grocery trade, create valuable partnerships, train the indoor navigation model, design an interface based on interviews and review the company´s IP protection and patent capabilities. All of these goals have been met with very good results.

Expected results and effects

The project has resulted in new insights and a better understanding of how Tangars product should be designed to meet customer requirements and expectations. The collaborations established during the project may eventually lead to the company´s first paying customer. These partners are also important for upcoming pilot studies scheduled for 2018. When Tangars vision is met, people will be able to search and navigate indoors, which will help people in their daily lives, not least people who today can not trade themselves.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was conducted in close dialogue with store managers at grocery stores and end users. Based on their information and our own vision, an interface was designed to shows planned functionality. These sketches were shown to the project´s stakeholders with a positive response. For further work, this interface must be implemented to be tested in the right environment, tested by real users. The possibility of patenting Tangar´s technology was investigated and a trademark registration in the EU and the US was submitted as a first step in the company´s IP work.
