Purpose and goal
This research project aims to investigate and develop guidelines for a socially sustainable, ethical and fair implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the public sector in Sweden. The objectives of the project are to: • increase knowledge about conflicts of interest and ethical aspects of IoT • identify strategies for realizing a socially sustainable use of IoT in the public sector • develop policy recommendations and guidelines for a sustainable use of IoT in the public sector
Expected effects and result
The long-term impact goal is that IoT will contribute to a more sustainable society. By increasing knowledge about the social sustainability aspects of IoT, we expect a development where IoT also contributes much more clearly to this. An important component to achieve this effect is the dissemination of results. To achieve this we will collaborate with IoT World and one or more public actors, e.g. DIGG or SKR.
Planned approach and implementation
The project is implemented in five work packages: AP1: Mapping social sustainability, ethical and equity aspects of IoT in the social sector at the micro and meso levels by studying actual IoT projects and their effects on social sustainability, ethics and equity. AP2: Mapping social, ethical and equity aspects of IoT in the social sector at the macro level. AP3: Development of policy recommendations. AP4: Communication of project results. AP5: Project management and administration.
