Important results from the project
The project has addressed verification of vehicle connectivity modules in a comprehensive manner, from simulations in early phases of a vehicular project to final verification of implemented systems in complete vehicles. The verification methods span the complete OSI model, including both RF level and end-to-end performance. The goals set from the beginning of the project has mostly been achieved, although because of the complexity of the end-to-end verification the scope had to be reduced.
Expected long term effects
The project has delivered a simulation tool that covers 5G and V2x communication at a system level, enabling early concept evaluation. The tool will be publicly available, promoting further development of the tool. Additionally the prototype setup for full scale vehicle verification will strengthen RISE and RanLOS wireless communication testing portfolio. The verification of connectivity in vehicles at different stages has been added to Volvo Cars verification strategy.
Approach and implementation
The project was organized into three work packages: WP1 was focusing on the early concept phases of the vehicle project where no hardware is available. The goal here was to further develop the simulation framework from SIVERT1. WP2 focuses on the engineering phases of the vehicle project where prototyping has started, and verification measurements can be performed. WP3 focusing on E2E verification, on both a component and sub system level.
