Important results from the project

Not all objectives were met, but the most essential ones were. An important results is the understanding of the complexity, and the difficulties it entails, of building something relatively simple like a self-driving bicycle.

Expected long term effects

The project contributes to more realistic driving tests being carried out with bicycles. This contributes to better safety functions being developed and validated where accidents are avoided between vehicle and cyclist.

Approach and implementation

The project was largely carried out by students who carried out student projects within the research project. Naturally, this meant many additional difficulties in developing something new with project workers who lacked engineering experience and who would learn theory and practice at the same time. Not all student projects have moved the research project forward. The business partners have supported with advice and help, while they have had their project tasks.
