Important results from the project
The main purpose with the project was to develop prototypes of and verify concepts for methods for data analysis to use available data to aid the clinical staff’s planning and to enable effective and efficient recommendations and feedback. A secondary purpose was to implement and test a module for fast and easy collection and evaluation of self-reported activity to aid behavioural change.
Expected long term effects
We have successfully improved our methods for recommending patients’ relative weight goals and evaluation; and formulated a plan for continued product development and improvement. Initial results from small scale tests of the behavioural module are promising and is the basis for a further developed concept consisting of two parts: one with quick questions relating primarily motivation and health; and one with an engaging food-calorie game based on similar concepts currently used by dieticians.
Approach and implementation
We conducted small scale tests with the behavioural support module to specify a clear plan for the project. The results indicated that we underestimated necessary ease of use. This lead to an updated plan for collection and use of self-reported data. Method development for data analysis was initiated immediately at the start of the project and have brought on enhanced accuracy as well as improved understanding and a plan for continued development.
