Important results from the project

Several experimental trials at pre-pilot scale were conducted and important research parameters were investigated for Intellectual Property protection of the production of the innovative sustainable materials for insulation. The properties and scale up process of the insulation panels were validated. A Swedish patent application has been filed. For evaluation of the potential of material for space application, a business case was investigated under the guidance of business professional at LTU business and recommendations for future applications in space have been received.

Expected long term effects

The project outcome is an insulation product which is novel and competes in properties with existing insulation materials while offering the advantages of low cost, recyclability and sustainability. The IP has been protected and future routes and partners have been identified for commercialization.

Approach and implementation

A new green and sustainable insulation material is inevitable in future while keeping the quality for the end users. However, it may take longer time in the transition from existing insulation materials to new products and a strong competition from larger companies could be a threat. Our product is developing now, the timing is almost right. Another important aspect is that HIPOR Materials AB is a startup company, and could not directly go the production on its own. Therefore, we have devised a business plan where we will be a key base in the value chain in the scale up production of the panels.
