Important results from the project
The aim is to create an app for the individual osteoporosis patient to exercise correctly. The training offerings is low as well as the level of knowledge in healthcare is low. The project is unique as it offers different forms of training for different types of osteoporosis fractures. The goal is to create an easily accessible app that contains divergent lectures, tests and training programs for the different osteoporosis groups. A needs analysis has been carried out, a prototype of the app has been developed, which enables applicant of grants for continued app development.
Expected long term effects
Exercise opportunities for osteoporosis patients are limited. The app makes the training available, individualized and equal across the country. The risk of falls and the incidence of fractures reduced. The majority of fractures occur in the elderly individuals. One way to meet the increase of aged individuals is to ensure that those affected by fractures maintain their independence, physical capacity and functional ability in their daily life. This is made possible by regular exercise. At group level, the app can lead to a delay in the need for home care and placement in a nursing home.
Approach and implementation
The needs analysis has been carried out and summarized and is now included in ingress of the prototype. An outline of the prototype was designed as a starting point for completion by a UX designer. Knowledge texts are written and reviewed, self-assessments are illustrated by illustrator. A large number of training exercises are scientifically selected, pedagogically performed by a gymnast and filmed by a professional photographer. The material is inserted into the prototype now ready to be presented. The implementation and the cost thereof followed the original plan.
