Important results from the project
Ebba Biotech AB develops fluorescent markers for structural mapping of biomolecules. Our product series Amytracker and ECtracer have in this project been complemented by Mix&Try Kits. These kits will primarily enable customers to quickly try out a specific marker suitable for their system. In addition, the molecules generate optical spectra, which when properly analyzed provide a high resolution map of target molecules in the sample. An online portal for analytical imaging is under development to assist our customers in data analysis, data mining and data presentation.
Expected long term effects
We have added two new products, the Mix&Try Kits, to the Amytracker and ECtracer product series. By offering four different markers in one product at a reasonable cost, new customers are attracted to test the markers in their experiments, identify the optimal marker, which they then buy in single-pack. Likewise, Mix&Try Kits are greatly appreciated by existing customers. The Mix&Try Kits were launched in May 2018. We expect that the already good sales of the kits will increase. Also, these kits are expected to generate increased demand for markers sold in single-pack.
Approach and implementation
Based on customer needs, we identified during Q1-Q2 molecules to be included in Mix&Try Kits. For these new products, we developed a pricing strategy and defined appropriate size of the vials. During Q2-Q3, we prepared marketing materials, customized the website, and introduced the products on the e-commerce platform. During Q4, Amytracker Mix&Try Kit was launched at an international conference. We started developing ´Analytical imaging platform´ during Q3-Q4 by creating backend to the online portal and an app. Work is ongoing to increase the functionality of the web application.
