Project duration November 2016 - June 2017
Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation programme for the Internet of Things

Purpose and goal

We have reached the first steps in our long-term goal of using IoT to have an inclusive, interactive and map-based information platform for environmental monitoring of air and water. Through collaboration between project partners, we have also created a greater interest in IoT and environmental pollution. During the project, we have identified challenges connected to how to scale and replicate the solution. We have initiated partnership with Uppsala City and Santiago to the project as well as more partners with expertise in open data, sensors and water solutions.

Expected results and effects

The LoV-IoT project has further developed the sensor platforms for air quality measurement using the technique LoRa, developed a prototype for analysis of storm water, mapped the city´s potential to utilize IoT, and began a work on the requirements and implementation of IoT in its operations. In addition, we have conducted two workshops with a total of 53 participants from several cities, experts in environmental analysis, County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland County, Trafikverket, IoT experts, business developers, researchers and successful IoT companies.

Planned approach and implementation

In LoV-IoT we have worked through five work packages and with regular reconciliation within the packages and throughout the project group. It has worked well and both project management and participants have been kept up to date with regular reconciliation meetings and document management in the Basecamp portal. During the short project period a number of workshops have been held - which have contributed with inspiration and responses to project participants as well as the external workshop participants.
