Purpose and goal
Based on current prototypes, design a production- and certification-ready version, along with adding functionality in the form of e.g. leakage detection. Additional objectives included improved battery life, fewer plastic parts for the final product and a couple of initiated pilot tests with paying customers.
Expected results and effects
The company succeeded in strategically breaking down the necessary steps from prototype to product and recruiting expertise with experience in mass production, both in terms of plastic details and circuit board design. The company has designed the product according to the certification requirements and has worked closely with accredited certification institutes. The company has further succeeded in implementing leak detection and alarms, as well as optimise the unit´s so that its targeted battery life is achieved. Approximately ten apartments have been fitted with meters.
Planned approach and implementation
The work packages are divided into Research and Development (R&D), Production, Certification and Pilot Testing. The R&D´s sub-goals were specified and systematically prioritised and the team´s resources were allocated thereafter. An involved collaboration with the production partner was developed in order to ensure a successful manufacturing journey. The certification was reviewed, and this clarified many requirements and functionalities of the product. For the execution of pilot projects, relevant property companies were evaluated and visited for sales purposes.
