Important results from the project
The main objective was to perform a case study in the elderly care, to investigate how interconnections between different systems can be reached and implemented, both on a physical and logical level. That included how electronic components can be connected (internet of things, gateway, communication solutions) and how data can be shared between the systems by using common data formats. The purpose was to use IoT to create possibilities to handle the demographic challenge and the growing need for care in our municipalities. This has been achieved.
Expected long term effects
Further testing and development of open service platforms for elderly care and housing companies has been performed. This formed the base for continued work on providing new products and services in more organisations (both public and private sector). For example, Alleato has developed modules that allow their system to work with different platforms (such as FIWARE). Another result is that the consortium has moved on to stage two of the project, with an extended consortium that scales and broadens the project.
Approach and implementation
The main project activity was to perform the case study in the elderly care, to investigate how interconnections between different systems can be reached and implemented. This was performed through installation of different systems in a number of apartments, with true users. In principle, that was performed according to plan. The project was managed by an active project management group, where the main partners were included. The division in work packages with clear responsibilities and deliverables made it possible to respect (in essence) and follow up the time table.
