Purpose and goal

The project aims to develop a sustainable and reliable monitoring system for bed bugs with aim to minimize the spread and significantly shorten the reaction time and effort required for pest control. A prototype has been developed and tested. The test results show great credibility for how the technology is used and the product´s presence with aim to act as a monitoring system for bedbugs. After the test period, necessary improvements are made of the product and the work towards industrialization continues.

Expected results and effects

The test phase of the project provided credible data on the behavior of the aphids and interaction with the product, generated from a real habitat established in a closed lab environment. The tests also provided technical input that is crucial for continued development and industrialization. The test result had a great effect on the credibility of how the technology is used and the product´s presence with aim to act as a monitoring system for bed bugs.

Planned approach and implementation

The prototype was tested in a custom-built test rig where a number of scenarios have been implemented and carefully documented. Tuning and adjustment of technology and lab environment took place after each test cycle, and the behaviour of the bed bug was analyzed and compared with the previous cycle. The tests were repeated until stable results was achieved. The result of this test period now gives us good opportunities to make necessary improvements and adjustments with technologies that increase the product´s performance so that the work towards industrialization can continue.
