Project duration October 2016 - June 2017
Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation programme for the Internet of Things

Purpose and goal

The aim of the project was for Öresundskraft AB (with the three operations Grid, Heat & Power and Broadband), together with the City of Helsingborg, to start collaborating around the topic of Internet of Things and how the IoT solutions could be implemented to support more sustainable use of resources. The view point is the "collective resource use" in buildings and the building as an enabler for IoT solutions.

Expected results and effects

The project resulted in an established IoT forum in which we can discuss and exchange knowledge and it has given us consensus about IoT models, business models, processes, performance requirements and technical solutions. The City of Helsingborg have created an open city hub with LoRa gateways which gives plenty of opportunities in our continuing work towards the smart city.

Planned approach and implementation

We organised the work in different tracks, so that it was possible to have the debate in a Forum and go to concreate action in the Pilot. The Forum quickly became popular, somewhat a therapy session around a topic that had been hot for a while, but without anyone putting the stakeholders i Helsingborg around the same table. We did! Which was much appreciated. The pilot (track 2) was supposed to be an "open challenge" where we were to design a solution buildings together. A post reflection of the work is that it is hard to make a solution from a empty paper in 6 months.
