Important results from the project
The project has connected the needs of the market the innovative knowledge and research excellence at the University, which has been to benefit for both parts. Real and practical needs in commercial projects have met the competence and expertise from the university, utilized by diploma work.
Expected long term effects
In this project a new composite slab made of KL-Wood and concrete have been developed. The main application focus in this project for this slab is in multi-family houses. However, we can see from other ongoing projects with practical application that this composite slab provide a competitive advantage and development opportunities in other applications, such as halls for industry and warehouses. The project confirms that composite slab provide opportunities for competitive floor thicknesses below 400 mm. The beam thickness affects the total height of the building.
Approach and implementation
The project started with a pilot study performed within a diploma project supervised by the expertise at Univeristy of Borås. This diploma work dialed in the needs for the Fristad Bygg and set the framework for parameters that where important. The needs and opportunities of the different slab structures were examined by theoretical analysis and by development of new calculation models. Instead of test in lab environment, the composite slab was developed and tested in a real project. The slab is documented in drawings that is attached to this report together with photo documentation.
