Important results from the project

During the project, Invivopower AB has worked closely with Scandinavian Realheart AB. In November 2023, we demonstrated our transcutaneous energy delivery system successfully powering the Realheart artificial heart at a trade show in Dallas. In June 2024, we demonstrated a functioning energy link with data link in Västerås. We developed new torroids for 40 W energy transfer and conducted promising animal studies. The project shows great potential for improving the competitiveness of artificial heart systems.

Expected long term effects

A transcutaneous energy link with a superimposed data link adapted for artificial hearts is expected to be of great importance in the future for the world´s heart failure patients who are currently standing in line waiting for a donor heart. When artificial hearts have the same longevity as a heart transplant, the market for artificial hearts will grow strongly. The collaborative project between Scandinavian Realheart and Invivopower shows on "proof of concept" that this is entirely possible and eliminates the risks associated with this long-awaited treatment.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The collaboration with Realheart has been really good. Realheart showed us great openness in their picture of requirements, which also guided our development direction. Having the stands directly next to each other at the exhibition in Dallas USA allowed us to connect our systems and really show potential of the system as a whole. The collaboration with Realheart will continue even after the end of the project period.
