Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Projektet HIR-Comp has studied the effect of Grafren AB´s graphene coating on the impact resistance of a glass fiber composite. This has been studied partly on flat composite laminates and for a helmet structure. To do this, a sample method and test item for a simplified coupon test have also been successfully developed. The measurements of the properties will continue after the end of the project period to ensure the new properties.
Expected long term effects
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The developed test method contributes to industrial benefit and can continue to be used instead of testing entire helmets. The material testing has suffered from manufacturing defects derived from the injection process, complementary testing will take place after the end of the project.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The trial scope with both flat panels and helmet-shaped samples has been successful, the flat panels are relevant to many industrial segments. The more specific testing of helmet structures has created added value in a functioning test method as well as relevant data for POC. Two students have completed solid work at LiU in a project course with case studies, characterization and measurement.
