Venture Climate adaptation in the built environment
Call Climate adaptation in the built environment

Important results from the project

The purpose of the project was to create better conditions for the built environment to adapt effectively to climate change. The goal was to develop methods and support for municipal work with climate adaptation. We have implemented this by adapting existing methods for robust decisions for climate adaptation under great uncertainty to the conditions in Swedish municipalities so that the methods are perceived as useful and easy to integrate into the municipalities´ continuous planning processes.

Expected long term effects

The project resulted in a guidance supporing municipalities in their work with climate adaptation. The guidance consists of a website and a workspace. SMHI take will host the website. The workspace will be available as open source. The guidance has been presented to a large number of municipalities through central authorities and the county boards´ climate adaptation coordinators where the method has been presented to 30% of the country´s municipalities.

Approach and implementation

The development of the guidance has been carried out by experts, future users (municipalities), county administrative boards and relevant authorities together. The focus has been on designing guidance so that it is as customized as possible. The municipality of Norrköping has had a special responsibility for adaptation to the municipal digital map materials and documents. The management of the guidance has been a special focus where specific issues were handled and the management issue resolved.
