Important results from the project

Yes, the targets were exceeded. The bio-oil from biomass, e.g. bark and sawdust, contains only 12-15% oxygen. The investment and production costs will be significantly lower. The equipment that will be required will be less complex, which improves the timeline and scale-up.

Expected long term effects

Votion will be able to build more plants for bio-oil production. The costs will be lower. It should be an easier permit project, as emissions to air and water will be reduced compared to how the process looked in the fall of 2025. The development is going in the right direction. Votion´s bio-oil price will be able to compete with fossil crude oil in the long term.

Approach and implementation

The GCC reactor was purchased according to schedule. Production has since exceeded expectations. Votion had several meetings with oil and chemical companies in the spring of 2026. New partners have emerged during the course of the project. The project was largely about producing samples - a number of liters per sample, and sending them to downstream stakeholders. The response has been positive. All companies that have received samples remain interested in collaborating with Votion.
