Purpose and goal

By including graphene in the structural details of vehicles, the use of wiring for the conduction of electricity can be minimized, which reduces the vehicle´s weight, the amount of assembly work and costs. By demonstrating this integration and increased functionality through design and prototyping, the advantages of the technology where graphene is used as a structurally conductive material in a structural detail in vehicles is demonstrated.

Expected effects and result

The project team will use the technology and knowledge generated in the previous project to raise the maturity level from TRL4 to TRL6. To achieve this, a detail relevant to the automotive industry will be designed, manufactured and tested and demonstrated in its field of use. This will mean that the technology is demonstrated in a relevant environment, which is an enabler for further development and adaptation.

Planned approach and implementation

The project will be run for two years by three participating companies and consist of five work packages. The first work package handles administrative parts of the project. The second and third work packages include design of electronic function, the structural materials of the composite as well as design of graphene coating and optimization. The fourth work package implements the manufacture of demonstrators and the fifth deals with the verification of the functionality of the demonstrators.
