Important results from the project
The aim of the Foodbite project was to investigate the conditions for using blockchain technology in the development of a global commercial service for simulation, planning and tracking of sustainable food transports. Foodbite is today a fully usable service, available to operators to plan, register and track transports through the web and apps. The project has been introduced to several commercial players and active further development is currently taking place. The initial target is thus fulfilled.
Expected long term effects
Foodbite has been very well received by the market. Blockchain technology has emerged as a cost-effective, safe and reliable way of handling transports, this has contributed to the project´s success and positive outcomes. Foodbite is today a fully functional application that has been tested by several commercial players. The project group has gradually been expanded and we see excellent conditions for future development together with universities and external players. Overall, the project´s outcome exceed expectations.
Approach and implementation
The project has been implemented mainly through the use of resources at Youcal AB´s office in Örebro. Contributing actors have been the Business School at Örebro University, Arla and Inkubera. The project implementation has been characterized by an agile and pragmatic approach to the development work and the operational challenges that have arisen. Prior to the continued development of Foodbite, the focus will be on closer coordination between the various project actors, something we expect to achieve by assigning a dedicated project manager to the project.
