Purpose and goal
More and more circular product standards are being developed for companies within the manufacturing industry with the aim to achieve more circular products. The overall objective of this UCP project is to apply these new circular product standards at Swedish manufacturing companies to achieve a higher degree of knowledge about how to reach a higher degree of circularity for their products. The goal with the UCP project is to apply and assess at least four different circular product standards of four different products that are being developed and manufactured by Swedish manufacturers.
Expected effects and result
The companies that participate in the UCP project or take a part of the results will achieve a better understanding of how circular terms are being defined and measured at a product level. These companies will thus be better prepared for future standards and laws regarding product circularity. An expected effect of the UCP project is through a co-creation between academia and industry to show how circular product standards can be used and change company operations towards a circular economy and more efficient use of material resources by designing products for circularity.
Planned approach and implementation
Within the UCP project we will map and analyse which circular product standards that exist and apply them on different products e.g. furniture and electric products. Through workshops with Swedish manufacturing industry will we describe and discuss the implementations of circular product standards regarding how circular strategies are defined and which ways there are to measure product circularity. Our knowledge gained form the UCP project will be used in the shaping and updating of new circular product standards.
