Important results from the project

Eperoto develops and sells a new, innovative, cloud-based software tool that allows its users to evaluate and make risk assessments of Swedish and international legal disputes. Through the Vinnova-funded project, Eperoto has developed a working model for automatic classification of court decisions. The model can now with high certainty identify decisions that belong to a certain type of category. By combining several models, individual court decisions can be quickly distinguished from a large amount of data. The sorted data can be used to make quantitative analyses of court rulings

Expected long term effects

Through the project, it has been shown that the existing technical models for classifying data have also worked well for analysis of legal texts in Swedish. The goal was to verify the technical possibility, which has been done successfully. Through the project, contacts have been made to begin the next step in the business development.

Approach and implementation

The database has been developed with technical and legal expertise and has consisted of: - Collection of data from courts with administrative support from students - Classification (annotation) of data with qualified administrative support from law student, - Verification of technical models for classification (algorithms), - Execution of selected model based on collected and mechanically refined data - Beginning of visual presentation of data The work-intensive part has been on coordination of the above steps, which has led to a high demand for mainly legal expertise.
