Do the right thing! - Digital support for efforts and evaluation of social volunteer work

Purpose and goal

The purpose and goal of this step 1 was to explore the need and opportunities to develop a digital tool for making it easier for volunteers and laymen to provide evidence-based efforts to young people in need of support. The tool will fulfill several needs for several parties, such as young participants, support persons, for program owners (SOS Children´s Villages in this example) and for municipalities or other responsibles. The tool will provide qualitative support and provide quantitative results, which easily can be evaluated and analyzed for further method development.

Expected results and effects

Municipalities, experts, the target group of care leavers and dedicated laymen all testify to the need for a support tool according to what we envisaged. All to ensure the quality and measurability of the efforts. Opportunities are great and demand clearly exists. Despite the project´s success in these surveys and this step 1, we will not proceed with a step 2 proposal now. Instead, we want to gather additional information and test methods before we feel that the next project application step feels mature, responsible and reasonable to do. By this it can exra ordinary in the long run.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has included a number of areas of work, according to the project logic: - Steering group meetings - Network probe - Identification of stakeholders ´different needs and demand for such a supportive tool, - Strategic analysis of existing tools - Reference group work with young and adults respectively, and - Examination of technical eligibility requirements These activities have sometimes been running in parallel and the whole of the project is larger than its parts. We have in a good way encircled both needs and conditions, which is a prerequisite for thoughts and going forward.
