Important results from the project
This project aimed to develop a working method for leading digital transformation in public sector organizations. Through the review of relevant literature and multiple meetings with digitalization project teams from Karlstads kommun and Compare, it was identified that in order to successful develop digital services, public sector organizations need to shift their innovation approach from an internal closed process towards an open collaborative process that involves citizens.
Expected long term effects
The project contributes a possible approach to set the conditions for citizen-driven innovation in the public sector. This approach formed the core of the Stage 2 application which has been submitted on 16 February 2022 to Vinnova (this project consisted of two stages).
Approach and implementation
The project included three activities starting with a literature review, followed by a collaborative method development, and the identification of different test cases to be used in the Stage 2 project. Especially the close collaboration and multiple feedback loops with public sector organizations was important due to the multi-faced nature of digital transformation and for identifying a suitable research project within it.
