Important results from the project
The goal with the project was to develop and validate a patient centered eHealth platform for people living with diabetes and for healthcare professionals and that can be further developed for other chronic diseases.
Expected long term effects
The project results were an e-health platform consisting of three applications. SukariBit, a smartphone-based application for people living with diabetes, PreshaBit, a smartphone-based application for people living with high blood pressure and AfyaBit, a web-based application for healthcare professionals. The applications have been tested and will continue to be tested in large to see whether the expected effects which is reduction of HbA1c levels can be influenced by daily monitoring of blood sugar levels and thus preventing comormordieits such as cardiovascular disease.
Approach and implementation
First phase: Writting of Software Requirement Specification and estimate time and cost. Second phase: Development of the applications according to the specification. This development was iterative. Third phase: Internal validation of the applications to find bugs Fourth phase: Development of ML platform for tracking comorbidities diseases. Fifth phase: Validation of applications in hospitals and marketing both in Sweden and international. The platform is unique to the existing commercial applications due to more data collection that gives a larger picture of HbA1c levels.
