Important results from the project

The aim was to consolidate the national network for young researchers in 2D materials which began with a feasibility study in 2021 and then continued as a strategic project to create further interactions between younger researchers and academia and industry towards Swedish innovation in 2D materials. During 2024 we arranged two digital meetings and two lunch-to-lunch workshops (in Gothenburg and Luleå), and 6 network members were supported through mobility grants of 25 kSEK.

Expected long term effects

The network is an effective way for young researchers active in 2D materials to expand their professional connections with both academic- and industrial actors in the field in all of Sweden. The network continues as a strategic project through 2025, which will follow the structure that was elaborated together with members during the startup years. In the continuation project a strategy will be developed towards continuation of the network after closing the strategic innovation programs in 2026.

Approach and implementation

We have in 2024 revised the modus operandi of the network moving from almost monthly digital meetings to focusing on two physical meetings and a few targeted online seminars. A procedure for supporting collaboration and exchanges between young researcher and Swedish actors in the field has been formalized in the form of mobility grants to network members, where six young researchers were awarded 25 kSEK each.
