Important results from the project
The purpose of the project was to start a commercialization of the concept "power-to-food" on which our technology is based. The technology can be used to produce climate-friendly oil or fat to replace unsustainably grown palm oil and other tropical fats - and also fat from milk. Our technology enables a sustainable production of oil and fat that relieves several planetary boundaries since we do not use arable land, no fertilizer and no pesticides. Through the project, we have developed the business model, verified customer needs and begun work on scaling up the process.
Expected long term effects
We have worked with both customer understanding and process development. We have had a discussions with potential customers. We have been able to carve out our customer base and link these to us for the next step in the development as we will co-create products with these customers. Some concrete results of the project are the following: Investment and accelerator participation in Big Ideas Venture. Letter of Intents/Interest from three different sectors: vegan cheese, confectionery and pastries/bread, and specialty oils. Clear way forward in the continued process development.
Approach and implementation
We had two clear needs and activities linked to the project: customer needs and process development. We have worked intensively with both needs. We have spent a lot of time in discussions with customers and potential partners to understand their needs and who we need to partner with. This responsive approach has been successful and has given us a clear roadmap going forward. The next step includes upscaling the process and getting our product into consumer products, especially vegan cheese and confectionery/bread to replace both dairy products and palm oil in these product groups.
