A Cost-Effective, Reliable and Versatile Monitoring System for Smaller Solar Power Installations

Important results from the project

Justus Technologies has actively worked with prototype development, brand development and networking with potential investors and customers. Our ambition was to have a satisfying prototype by the end of the project. However, based on discussions with industry specific stakeholders and end-users, there still remains some changes prior to market introduction. In addition, a M.Sc. thesis project, focusing on software development and smart algorithms, shall be completed in June 2019. We are currently investigating tenants as potential customers, which we intend to continue with.

Expected long term effects

The learnings gained throughout the project have been of great value for the team. We have a clear action plan, in which the first step will be to build the first units in-house, to be tested with end users with the objective to gain feedback on the user experience in terms of both hardware and software. The first prototypes will then be tested with our intended pilot customers. The final units for commercialisation will either be built by ourselves or built and delivered by a subcontractor.

Approach and implementation

Fredrik Trella has acted has project lead and coordinator, as well as a support to David Karibe who has had the main technology development responsibility as planned. During the beginning of 2019 we brought in a M.Sc. thesis worker from Engineering Physics at Uppsala Universitet to strengthen the tech team. Fredrik Trella and Sara West have been responsible for business development and networking, having for instance represented Justus during Slush in 2018. Susanna Ander has had the overall responsibility for graphical design in terms of brand and web design, in dialogue with the team.
