How can Europe's health data contribute to the next breakthrough in medicine?
Europe has some of the world's most valuable health data, but much of it is still not fully used for research and innovation. To change that, the German innovation authority SPRIND is now looking for researchers, startups, companies, healthcare providers and other teams who want to use health data to develop new AI-based solutions in areas such as prevention, diagnostics and treatment. Through the Recoding Medicine Challenge initiative, selected teams can receive funding of up to approximately 1.5 million euros over three stages. Proposal is open until October 16, 2026.
Welcome to a matchmaking afternoon in Stockholm where data owners, researchers, AI developers, clinicians and experts in law and data governance can meet, make new contacts and explore possible collaborations. The goal is to connect people and organisations who can contribute to new solutions in health and healthcare.
Who can participate?
- Startups and researchers: Research groups, startups, and independent researchers in AI and machine learning who want to use real biomedical data to test and develop their ideas.
- Data holders: Hospitals, biobanks, research institutes, registry holders, patient organizations and companies that have access to biomedical or health data. The data does not need to be fully processed or ready to use immediately.
- Experts: Clinicians, epidemiologists, biologists and biomedical researchers who can assess whether a potential collaboration is scientifically relevant and feasible.
- Legal and data management: People who work with data protection, data access agreements, and research ethics. Often, it is legal issues, rather than technical ones, that determine whether data can be made available to research.

Participants will have the opportunity to briefly introduce themselves, describe what they work with and which people or organisations they would like to get in touch with. - 16.40 Matchmaking and networking
Time for conversation, exchange of experiences and new contacts. The focus is on finding relevant partners and discussing possible project ideas.
You don't need to have a ready-made project. It's enough that you have an idea, a method, a question or are interested in finding partners.

Please create a short profile in Foresight Institute's matchmaking platform before you come. There you describe what you are looking for or can contribute. The platform suggests relevant contacts, but it is always you who decides which people you want to contact.
If you cannot participate in Stockholm, you can still create a profile and be matched with other participants digitally.
