AI in the service of climate

The offer is aimed at those who want to carry out the project that, with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), contributes to Sweden having no net greenhouse gases emissions greenhouse gases by 2045. The call for proposal is a joint effort by Vinnova, Formas, the Swedish Energy Agency and the Swedish National Space Agency. The evaluation committee consists of Swedish and international expertise and so proposals are preferably written in English.

The offer in brief

What can you apply for?

To develop research ideas and knowledge in AI and climate to a higher degree of maturity, that contributes to tools for decision support with potential to provide significant emission reductions or necessary adaptations to climate change in the long term.

Who can apply?

The participant constellations must consist of at least three parties, of which at least one must be a research organization and at least one company or public organization (need owner). The projects should clearly link to the needs of business or the public sector, and thus these actors should play an important and active role.

How much can you apply for?

Funding of up to 80 percent of a project´s eligible costs. Projects funded run between two and three years, with a grant of between five and seven million SEK.

    How to apply

    To apply for funding, you need to log in and complete an application form in our eServices portal. The application form contains questions about your project, the participants taking part in the project and your budget.

    Please allow enough time

    Please keep in mind that it takes time to complete an application. Filling in the templates can take several days, since they're based on analyses you need to do. Therefore, start the application well in advance. You can start filling in details, then save and continue at a later time.

    When you've completed your application, please mark it as done ("klar"). You can unlock and make changes to your application at any time until the call closes. If you unlock your application, you must mark it as done ("klarmarkera") if you want the application registered when the call closes. 

    What happens after the call has closed?

    Once your application has been registered, we'll send a confirmation email to the person responsible for the user account, as well as to the project manager and the company signer. Please note that this may take a few hours after the call has closed.

    After the closing date, you can't register any new information. You may only add information to your application if we ask for it.

    Who can read your application?

    Applications submitted to us become official documents. However, we don't disclose information about business operations, inventions or research results if it can be assumed that someone will suffer economic damage if we do.

    This means that we must disclose the documents if someone requests them. However, we can black out information if we believe it could cause economic harm if disclosed.

    Please note that Vinnova collaborates with Formas in this call and all information submitted to Vinnova in connection with this call will be made available to Formas.
