Coordinator LUXBRIGHT AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration September 2026 - March 2027
Status Ongoing
Venture Preparation projects for international application within health
Call Deepened international collaborations for healthy and resilient societies

Purpose and goal

ZONE’s goal is to advance an ultra‑light X‑ray technology to support Nordic civil preparedness. The aim is to define the scientific foundations, validate core systems, and outline a shared roadmap toward long‑term industrialization and European resilience. The project also integrates gender perspectives to ensure protection systems serve diverse users and mobility needs, while establishing a collaborative framework that can support future cross‑Nordic innovation.

Expected effects and result

The ZONE project establishes a long‑term collaboration between Luxbright and SINTEF to advance ultra‑light cold‑cathode X‑ray technology for civil defense. It delivers a technical and regulatory roadmap covering key certifications, an IPR framework, and a strategy for future international funding. By enabling drone‑integrated X‑ray systems for explosive disposal, the project reduces human risk, strengthens Nordic preparedness, supports European autonomy, and incorporates inclusive design.

Planned approach and implementation

Over six months, the project is organized into three activity packages. AP1 builds a shared scientific framework through joint workshops aligning Luxbright and SINTEF’s technologies with Nordic civil‑defense needs. AP2 focuses on technical validation, assessing system architecture, operational assumptions, and X‑ray performance. AP3 sets long‑term collaboration structures and produces a multi‑year roadmap along with materials for future Nordic and EU funding.
