Important results from the project
The planning project has performed a succesful dialog with potential technology providers in order to evaluate if a reliable power supply system for electric drive for ferries across Göta älv can be developed through procurement of innovation. We have concluded that the conditions should be in place and sufficient information has been accumulated allowing Västtrafik to decide on the project´s next step.
Expected long term effects
We have managed to build initial competence concerning procurement of innovation, primarily pre-commercial procurement, within Västtrafik, interested technology providers and consultants. A pre-study has been performed in preparation to through procurement of innovation develop and test a new power supply system for electric drive of Västtrafiks new ferries. A solution is currently not available and we have interested technology providers. These two factors inidicate that pre-commercial procurement can be used and that there exists a market for electric drive of ferries.
Approach and implementation
The market survey performed via a seminar, separate meetings and written comments, has been very succesful. The project scope was increased when quay modifications were added. This resulted in a delay of the timeplan such that a decision concerning procurement and formulation of necessary documentation has been removed from the planning projects scope.
