Purpose and goal

The strategic innovation program Metallic materials aims to provide players within the innovation area with information as to state-of-the art in relevant research areas. The goal of this project was to provide the research community with a literature survey regarding syncrotron light and its applicability in metals research. As the study is published and downloadable from the program´s website, the goal has been reached.

Results and expected effects

Expected effects are that scientists working on metallic materials should have an up-to-date picture of the possiblities with synchrotron light so as to use this tool properly in those cases where it could contribute to valuable results and deepened understanding.

Approach and implementation

During construction of the synchrotron lab Max IV i Lund, a ´Max IV Laboratory Industrial Network Group´ has been formed, where among others a scientist from Swerea KIMAB specialised in metallic materials is part. Metallic materials thus found it appropriate too ask this scientist to summarize the current status as to the application of syncrothron light in metals research.
