Important results from the project

The goal was to create a shared understanding of Sweden’s needs within XR. That goal was achieved, but the insights pointed to something bigger – a new capability to understand, act, and create in a complex digital world. This became the foundation for the concept of immersive intelligence, a new interface between people and society. The project has thus both met and exceeded its objectives by identifying a new, unifying direction that enables more actors to create value from this opportunity.

Expected long term effects

The project has laid the foundation for an open platform where technology, societal benefit, and user needs converge. Companies gain shorter time-to-market and business-driven innovation. Regions bring actors together in nodes that drive local development. Nationally, coordination of digitalization and AI is strengthened. Together, this creates greater innovation capacity, stronger collaboration, and a more inclusive, competitive Sweden.

Approach and implementation

We ran the project as an exploratory initiative based on the principles of innovation commons – where actors share knowledge, resources, and relationships. Through user-centered interviews, workshops, prototypes, and surveys, we built a shared understanding. Our focus throughout has been on creating structures that enable change by including diverse perspectives and harnessing different ways of thinking in the development of a new societal capability.
